recognised by Thames Water's Reservoir Safety & Asset Condition Manager
Browne was appointed by Thames Water to deliver an emergency reservoir relining at Hampton Water Treatment Works after extreme rainfall contaminated a key water supply. The project involved installing a 9000m² protective membrane and targeted waterproofing works.Responding within hours of a Friday night call, Browne swiftly implemented a temporary fix. Their coordinated approach enabled parallel operations, maintaining water treatment throughout. The project highlighted Browne’s rapid response and focus on service continuity.
Rapid Mobilisation
Within three days, Browne sourced 25 tonnes of materials and deployed 30 skilled personnel, including in-house sta` and trusted partners, working seven days a week to maintain progress.
Tough Conditions
High winds complicated membrane installation, requiring 4,000 sandbags and over 1,000m of hot-welded joints, plus extra battening to secure 500m of edges.
Maintaining Operations
Browne adjusted their methods to minimise disruption, keeping parts of the reservoir operational throughout the works.
Through rapid mobilisation, technical expertise, and collaboration, Browne delivered an emergency solution that protected London’s water supply. The project demonstrated their ability to act quickly, adapt to challenges, and deliver high-quality results under pressure.
