We believe that achieving high standards in health, safety, and wellbeing (HSW) is essential to building infrastructure that lasts. Through innovation, collaboration, and leadership, we’ve built a proactive safety culture that ensures every individual goes home safe and well, every day. Guided by our ISO 45001:2018 accredited Occupational Health and Safety Management System and our Aligned Browne Culture (ABC) Programme, we’re driving continuous improvement in safety performance across all levels of our organisation, supply chain, and projects.

We believe excellence comes from making safety a core value and fostering a self-sustaining coaching community. That’s why we’re proud to operate the ABC – Aligned Browne Culture Programme.

Employee wellbeing is integral to safety. Our Occupational Health Calendar supports mental health, fatigue management, and wellness, ensuring teams have the resources they need.

With a 1:20 ratio of trained Mental Health First Aiders and our partnership with Mates in Mind, we promote mental health awareness across our workforce and industry.

Leadership

Safety leadership and supply chain oversight

Browne upholds the highest standards across our supply chain, ensuring that all partners align with our safety expectations through mandatory training and induction programmes.

Leadership visibility is key to maintaining a strong safety culture . Our senior managers conduct monthly site visits, reinforcing expectations, providing guidance, and ensuring compliance. We also engage with external stakeholders through industry-wide collaborative forums, such as the Thames Water HSW Leadership Team, sharing best practices and driving continuous improvement.
